‘O Wisdom’ and ‘O Adonai’
This Advent season, we are taking a deeper dive into the hymn ‘O Come, O Come, Emmanuel’. We learn an ancient model of prayer to God, calling upon His name to help, save, and deliver us. Jesus has different names throughout Scripture, begging us to ask for certain things according to that name. Jesus promises in John 14:13, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
The first of the series, and the first title of Jesus, is ‘Wisdom’.
The second of the series, and the second title is ‘Adonai’ or ‘Lord’.
